About Jamaica 55
H.E. Seth George Ramocan, High Commissioner to the UK, announced the launch of the Jamaica 55 UK Steering Committee.
The Steering Committee is co-chaired by Rudi Page, Management Consultant and member of the Economic Growth Council (EGC) Taskforce and Janelle Raeburn, an events planner who will coordinate activities. Her primary purpose is to encouraging 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation Jamaican-UK citizens to expand on the legacy built by their parents for the upliftment of the Jamaican-UK community and Jamaica. The subcommittees will comprise of professionals from a wide range backgrounds and experience.
Seth George Ramocan, stated “I am truly delighted to launch this Steering Committee as we seek to further promote Jamaica in the UK, under the National Theme ‘Celebrating Jamaicans at Home and Abroad’. Our mission is to heighten public awareness of the significant achievements of the Jamaican-UK community and its outstanding contribution to the United Kingdom. Therefore, this year, we will celebrate, collaborate and elevate”.
Jamaica 55 UK events and activities will continue until April 2018, reflecting Jamaica’s rich cultural heritage and influence within the UK.
